The membership includes the Philadelphia Water Department, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, Schuylkill River Heritage Area, and the League of Women Voters.

Goal

Improve public support for watershed protection actions

Objectives

• Track and increase educator contacts through various activities

• Develop and publish a web-based clearinghouse for educators

• Improve public perceptions of the Schuylkill River and increase public connection to the drinking water supply

Strategies

• Develop and implement an educator's resource clearinghouse and outreach strategy

• Develop a public outreach campaign that connects residents to their watershed by engaging a broad community of interests.

Accomplishments

• Since its inception, the workgroup provided over 25 scholarships to the Schuylkill Congress and over 20 Source Water Protection awards to schools that help protect drinking water sources.

• The workgroup built a strategy for a major Schuylkill watershed-wide advertising campaign.
